Books and Publications

SGMRG's Kingswood Coal book is still available - covering all the major coal mining sites in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We have also written a book on Frog Lane Colliery in Coalpit Heath and have many other publications for sale.

Public Open Days

SGMRG run Public Open Days every year at Oldwood Pit, attracting around 500 visitors. Our next open day is in 2012 - Dates 8th and 9th September (entry is FREE). Booking essential. You can also come along to any of our events for £2*.

Frampton Cotterell & District Local History Society Programme

The Frampton Cotterell & District Local History Society meet on the third Wednesday of the month (October to April) at 7.30pm in Zion Church Hall, Woodend Road, Frampton Cotterell. BS36 2HX.

Annual Membership is £10, Guest for evening is £2.

Objectives of the Frampton Cotterell & District Local History Society

  • To promote the study of local history
  • To safeguard, record and preserve the history of the area
  • To conduct research and disseminate knowledge
  • To publish historical records and research material
  • To provide lectures, talks, conducted walks and visits

Note that the Frampton Cotterell Local History Society is not associated with the SGMRG in any way, but has some members in common and has similar interests. They currently do not have their own website.
